Glycophil Moisturiser - Fragrance-Free, Barrier-Repair

Hydration is half the story

The other half is whether it's still there at noon. Most moisturisers feel good at application. Six hours later, your skin tells a different story: tight, dull, asking for more.

The daily moisturiser in the Skin Essentials routine. Niacinamide at 1% supports ceramide synthesis, keeping the barrier intact so water doesn't escape. Avocado and Sunflower oils replenish the linoleic and oleic acids the skin loses daily, the structural lipids that keep the barrier dense. Cyclopentasiloxane and Dimethicone form a breathable, weightless seal over everything — lightweight enough to wear every day, in every season, under SPF and makeup without pilling or heaviness. Fragrance-free, non-greasy, silicone-based finish. Dermatologically tested. Paraben-free, sulfate-free, mineral-oil-free, cruelty-free.

Step 2 in the Skin Essentials routine — Cleanser → Moisturiser → Sunscreen
+

This is Step 2 — apply immediately after cleansing, within 60 seconds while the skin still holds residual moisture. In the morning, follow with sunscreen. Tap any step to see that product.

How to Use
4 steps · Morning and evening · The 60-second window matters
+
1
Apply to clean, dry skin immediately after cleansing — within 60 seconds, while skin still holds residual moisture.
2
Dispense a small amount — a pea-sized portion covers the full face. Warm between fingertips before applying.
3
Press and smooth over face and neck using upward strokes. Do not rub. Allow 60 seconds to absorb before the next step.
4
Use morning and night. Morning: apply sunscreen on top — silicone base doesn't interfere with SPF. Evening: this is the final step.
A note on timing
The 60-second window after cleansing matters. Skin that has just been washed still holds residual surface moisture. Applying the moisturiser at this point means the Glycerine has water to bind to, and the Dimethicone seal forms over a hydrated surface rather than a dry one. The difference compounds over time.
Our Approach
Skin Essentials is the foundation line. Skin Context is why it exists. Not skin types — skin states.
+
Skin Essentials

Skin Essentials is the baseline range — the products every skin needs regardless of context. Not targeted treatments. Not skin-type prescriptions. The foundation that keeps the barrier functional so everything else works better.

The Cleanser clears without stripping. The Moisturiser maintains what the Cleanser preserves. For days when the barrier needs more — dry spells, travel, overnight recovery — the Intensive Moisturiser steps in. One complete system.

Skin Context

You are not oily skin or dry skin. You are skin that had a bad night's sleep, spent the day in air conditioning, or just stepped in from a humid afternoon outside. Your environment, your stress, your routine — all of it shapes what your skin needs right now. That is not a skin type. That is a skin context.

Glycophil is built around skin contexts. Your skin is dynamic and ever-changing, not limited to a box or a label like dry, oily or combination.

FAQ
8 questions — silicone feel, actives compatibility, Intensive vs Daily, and more
+
Is this suitable for oily or acne-prone skin?+
Yes. The silicone base — Cyclopentasiloxane and Dimethicone — is non-comedogenic and sits on the skin without blocking pores. Oily skin is often the result of a compromised barrier overproducing sebum as a stress response. Supporting the barrier with consistent hydration can reduce that compensatory oiliness over time.
Can I use this under sunscreen and makeup?+
Yes. The silicone base creates a smooth, dry-touch surface that works well under both SPF and makeup. Allow 60 seconds after applying before layering anything on top. The formulation does not pill or interfere with sunscreen chemistry.
What is the difference between this and the Intensive Moisturiser?+
This is the daily maintenance formula — lightweight, designed to sit under SPF and makeup, and optimised for consistent everyday use. The Intensive Moisturiser is a context-triggered formula for days when the barrier needs more: dry spells, extended AC exposure, travel, overnight recovery. Both work as standalone items, but together they cover the full range of what the barrier needs.
Why does it feel slightly different to what I normally use?+
Most moisturisers rely on thick emollient bases that feel immediately rich on application. This formulation uses a silicone base, which absorbs faster and leaves a skin-like finish rather than a creamy residue. The hydration mechanism works at the barrier level, not at the surface sensation level.
How long before I notice a difference?+
Barrier function improves gradually with consistent use. Most people notice reduced midday tightness within the first week. Measurable improvement in baseline hydration and reduced reactivity typically takes three to four weeks. Niacinamide's effect on ceramide synthesis is a sustained process, not an overnight result.
Can I use this with actives like retinol or exfoliating acids?+
Yes. pH-compatible with most actives and does not interfere with the efficacy of retinoids or chemical exfoliants. Apply active serums to clean skin first, allow them to absorb, then apply this moisturiser as the sealing layer. If on a prescribed regime, check with your dermatologist.
Is a pea-sized amount really enough?+
Yes. The silicone base spreads efficiently and does not require a large amount to cover the face and neck. Warming it between your fingertips before pressing it into the skin helps distribution. Using more than needed does not improve efficacy — it just takes longer to absorb.
Does the order of steps in the routine actually matter?+
Yes. Cleanser first — a stripped barrier cannot hold what a moisturiser delivers. Moisturiser second — Glycerine needs surface moisture to bind to, which is why the 60-second window after cleansing matters. Sunscreen last — it needs to sit on top to function. Inverting this order reduces the efficacy of every product in the routine.

THE SCIENCE

Your skin loses moisture every hour of every day.
Here is what stops it.

Transepidermal water loss — TEWL — is the continuous, invisible movement of water from inside the skin to the outside air. It happens whether you notice it or not. A healthy, well-maintained barrier slows it down. A depleted one accelerates it. The tightness, the midday shine, the sensitivity, the flaking — these are not separate problems. They are the same problem at different stages. Glycophil Moisturiser is built around three mechanisms that work at three distinct depths to slow TEWL, replenish what the day removes, and keep the barrier functioning consistently.

Diagram 1

What happens inside the barrier when moisture is, and isn't, held in

UNMAINTAINED BARRIER MAINTAINED BARRIER SKIN SURFACE LIPID LAYER SKIN CELLS Lipid gaps Solid arrows: water escaping upward. Dashed arrows: irritants entering downward. Result: tight by noon, flaking, sensitivity, midday shine, congestion. SKIN SURFACE LIPID LAYER SKIN CELLS Moisture retained within the barrier Dense lipid layer, no gaps Moisture stays in. Actives absorb at full efficacy. Result: skin stays comfortable, hydrated, and stable for 12 hours.

Diagram 2

What TEWL actually looks like on your face

Flaking Surface cells loosen and lift when lipids can't bind them. Stratum corneum / cheeks, forehead Tightness Cells contract as water escapes. Worst after washing or in AC. Jaw and cheeks no moisture retained Dryness around lips Thinner barrier zone. Almost no lipids — dehydrates first. One of the earliest TEWL signs Midday shine Barrier stress triggers excess sebum. Not oiliness — a stress response. T-zone Sensitivity Gaps let irritants reach living cells. Products that normally don't react now sting. Epidermis / cheeks Pore congestion Excess sebum fills pores. Blackheads and congestion follow. Nose and chin All six are symptoms of the same root cause: a barrier losing moisture faster than it should.

Diagram 3

How this formulation addresses it

SKIN SURFACE LAYER 1 — OCCLUSIVE SEAL Cyclopentasiloxane + Dimethicone Breathable, weightless surface seal. Locks hydration in without heaviness. LAYER 2 — LIPID MATRIX Avocado Oil + Sunflower Oil Replenishes linoleic and oleic acids. Fills structural lipid gaps that allow TEWL. SKIN CELLS LAYER 3 — CERAMIDE SYNTHESIS Niacinamide 1% Supports ceramide synthesis within skin cells — the fats that form the lipid layer. Keeps the barrier structurally intact over time, not just at the moment of application. LAYER 4 — WATER LAYER Glycerine Draws water into the skin and holds it at the cellular level. Seal at the surface. Lipids replenished in the matrix. Ceramide production supported from within. Water drawn in and held at the cellular level. Hydration maintained at every depth.

What is in it and why

The actives. What each one does.

BARRIER REGULATOR

Niacinamide

1%

Supports ceramide synthesis within the skin cells — the lipids that form the barrier itself. At 1%, this is a maintenance concentration, not a treatment dose. It keeps the barrier structurally intact over time so TEWL stays low consistently rather than fluctuating through the day.

BARRIER SUPPORT

D-Panthenol

Provitamin B5. Penetrates into the skin and converts to Pantothenic acid, supporting cell renewal and moisture retention at the epidermal level. Works alongside Niacinamide to maintain barrier resilience.

EMOLLIENT

Avocado Oil

0.75%

Rich in oleic acid and phytosterols. Replenishes the oil-soluble lipids that the barrier loses daily, filling the intercellular spaces that keep moisture from escaping and irritants from entering.

EMOLLIENT

Sunflower Oil

High in linoleic acid — the specific fatty acid most depleted in a compromised barrier. Restores structural integrity to the lipid matrix. Works in combination with Avocado Oil to give the barrier a complete lipid profile.

ANTIOXIDANT

Vitamin E

Tocopherol Acetate. Stabilises the oil phase of the formulation and provides antioxidant protection at the skin surface, reducing oxidative stress that degrades barrier function over time.

HUMECTANT

Glycerine

4%

Draws water from the environment and from the deeper layers of the skin toward the surface. Holds it there. Works at the water layer before the other mechanisms seal it in.

TEWL is a skin context problem. It is not a fixed property of your skin — it is something that changes with every room you walk into, every hour of sleep you get, every season that shifts. What your barrier needs to keep moisture in today is not the same as what it needed last week. Glycophil is built around that philosophy.

For days when the barrier needs more — dry spells, travel, overnight recovery, high AC exposure — the Intensive Moisturiser steps in. One complete system. Built around the skin you actually have today, not the skin type you were assigned once.
