Where this fits
Step 1 in the Skin Essentials routine — Cleanser → Moisturiser → Sunscreen
+

This is Step 1 — always before the Moisturiser or any treatment product. After cleansing, your barrier is intact and ready for whatever comes next. Tap any step to see that product.

The Science
What your cleanser is actually doing to your skin — barrier diagrams, mechanism breakdown, and the logic behind the formulation.
+
Science content renders separately below from your existing custom_liquid section.
We will merge it into this accordion in a future update.
Ingredients
Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate 5% · Glycerin 5% · Niacinamide 2% · D-Panthenol 0.5%
+
Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate5%— Amino acid surfactant. Cleans without stripping.
Glycerin5%— Deposits hydration during rinsing.
Niacinamide2%— Barrier support + mild tone evening.
D-Panthenol0.5%— Anti-inflammatory. Barrier recovery before actives.
How to Use
4 steps · Morning and evening · Low foam is by design
+
1
Wet your face with lukewarm water.
2
Small amount, light lather, apply with gentle circular motions.
3
Rinse thoroughly. Pat dry. Do not rub.
4
Use once or twice daily. Step 1 before Moisturiser or Depigmentation Cream.
A note on lather
Low foam is expected and correct. High foam = harsher surfactants. If it feels like nothing is happening, that is the point.
Our Approach
Skin Essentials is the foundation line. Skin Context is why it exists. Not skin types — skin states.
+
Skin Essentials

Skin Essentials is the baseline range — the products every skin needs regardless of context. Not targeted treatments. Not skin-type prescriptions. The foundation that keeps the barrier functional so everything else works better.

The Cleanser clears without stripping. The Moisturiser maintains what the Cleanser preserves. For days when the barrier needs more — dry spells, travel, overnight recovery — the Intensive Moisturiser steps in. One complete system.

Skin Context

You are not oily skin or dry skin. You are skin that had a bad night's sleep, spent the day in air conditioning, or just stepped in from a humid afternoon outside. Your environment, your stress, your routine — all of it shapes what your skin needs right now. That is not a skin type. That is a skin context.

Glycophil is built around skin contexts. Your skin is dynamic and ever-changing, not limited to a box or a label.

FAQ
7 questions — lather, switching cleansers, retinoid compatibility, and more
+
The lather is very low. Is it actually cleaning?+
Yes. Foam is a byproduct of certain surfactant types, not a measure of cleaning power. This uses Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate — an amino acid surfactant that cleans effectively at lower lather. The absence of foam is not a defect. It is the design.
Why should I switch from my current cleanser?+
Most cleansers are formulated for the cleanse itself. Glycophil Cleanser is formulated for the skin after cleansing — keeping the barrier intact and stable for whatever follows.
Can I use it with reactive skin?+
Yes. pH 6.2–6.6, amino acid surfactant, no SLS or SLES. Suitable for reactive and easily irritated skin.
Can I use it morning and evening?+
Yes. Gentle enough for twice-daily use. Morning before SPF. Evening before actives.
Will it remove makeup and SPF?+
Daily impurities and light makeup, yes. Heavy or waterproof makeup — double cleanse with an oil-based cleanser first.
Compatible with retinoids and prescriptions?+
Yes — this cleanser doesn't compromise the barrier, making it a suitable first step before retinoids or prescribed treatments. If on a prescribed regime, check with your dermatologist.
How long does one bottle last?+
Once daily: ~3 months. Twice daily: ~6 weeks. Shelf life 24 months.

The Science

Most cleansers are optimised for the 30 seconds they are on your skin. This one is optimised for everything after.

A cleanser spends 30 seconds on your skin. Most are built for those 30 seconds. None of them think about the next 12 hours. Glycophil Cleanser does. Formulated to clean without disrupting your barrier, it readies your skin for next steps in your routine, not just the rinse.

What your cleanser is actually doing

Most cleansers are optimised for the 30 seconds they are on your skin

You feel
Tight, dry skin
after washing
Why it happens
Harsh surfactants strip the skin's natural lipid layer, the same lipids that hold moisture in. Your barrier is compromised before your routine even begins.

You feel
Oily again
by midday
Why it happens
Stripped skin overproduces sebum to compensate. The rebound oiliness is not your skin type. It is your cleanser's fault.

You feel
Stinging when
applying actives
Why it happens
A disrupted barrier lowers your skin's tolerance threshold. The irritation is not your serum. Your skin was already inflamed when it arrived.

You feel
Your routine
is not working
Why it happens
Skin in chronic low-grade inflammation cannot absorb actives at full efficacy. The problem is not your serum. It is what happened at the sink.

You are not oily skin or dry skin. You are skin that had a bad night's sleep, spent the day in air conditioning, or just stepped in from a humid afternoon outside. Your environment, your stress, your routine, all of it shapes what your skin needs right now. That is not a skin type. That is a skin context.

Glycophil is built around skin contexts. Your skin is dynamic and ever-changing, and not limited to a box or a label like dry, oily or combination.

Skin Essentials is the range that starts here — the everyday essentials that every skin needs.

Glycophil Cleanser
Clean. But unchanged.
Formulated for the skin after washing. Intact barrier, stable environment, ready for every step that follows.

What your barrier looks like after washing

A cross-section of the stratum corneum, the skin's outermost protective layer, after two different cleansers.

After a typical cleanser
ACID MANTLE LIPID LAYER SKIN CELLS Water escaping upward Irritants entering through gaps
Acid mantle disruptedUneven surface pH. Protective film broken in multiple spots.
Lipid layer strippedGaps between cells. Moisture escapes. Irritants can enter.
Your actives are landing on skin that is already stressed. Less gets through, and what does get through is more likely to irritate.
After Glycophil Cleanser
ACID MANTLE LIPID LAYER SKIN CELLS Actives absorbing as intended Moisture retained within the barrier
Acid mantle intactSmooth, continuous film. pH environment preserved after rinsing.
Lipid layer completeNo gaps. Moisture stays in. Actives absorb at full efficacy.
Your actives are absorbing into skin that is stable and ready. That is the difference.

What is in it and why

Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate
Primary surfactant · 5%
An amino acid-derived surfactant. Cleans without the aggressive stripping of SLS or SLES. Lower irritation potential, milder mechanism, still removes excess sebum, daily grime, and pollutants effectively.
Glycerin
Humectant · 5%
Draws moisture from the environment and holds it at the skin surface. At 5%, it deposits a measurable layer of hydration during rinsing. The post-wash tightness you are used to feeling is largely the absence of this.
Niacinamide
Barrier support · 2%
At 2% in a rinse-off product, Niacinamide contributes to barrier integrity and mild tone evening over consistent use. It is not the hero ingredient here, but it earns its place.
D-Panthenol
Provitamin B5 · 0.5%
A well-established anti-inflammatory and skin-conditioning agent. Supports barrier recovery and reduces minor post-wash irritation. Present specifically because this cleanser is designed to be used before actives.
